The U.S. Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed sanctions on two individuals and four entities for their alleged involvement in facilitating illicit financial transactions for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its Quds Force.
The sanctions target individuals and companies accused of acting as a front for the IRGC’s efforts to evade U.S. sanctions and generate revenue for its operations. The Treasury Department stated that these actions are part of a broader effort to disrupt the IRGC’s financial networks and limit its ability to fund destabilizing activities in the region.
The designated individuals and entities are accused of engaging in a variety of illicit activities, including money laundering, fraud, and the use of shell companies to obscure the true ownership of assets. The Treasury Department has stated that it will continue to pursue those who support the IRGC and its harmful agenda.
