Suspects arrested in Polymerket gambling bust for using classified military intelligence on Polymarket. Investigation by Shin Bet, Israel Police reveals serious.

In a joint operation by the Shin Bet, the Erez Major Crimes Unit of the Ministry of Defense’s Security and Investigations Unit, and the Israel Police, several suspects were recently arrested, including a civilian and reservists, on suspicion of managing gambling on the Polymarket website regarding the occurrence of military operations, based on classified intelligence to which the reservists were exposed due to their roles in the army.

Following an investigation, after an evidentiary basis was formed against a civilian and a reservist, the State Attorney’s Office decided to indict them for serious security offenses, bribery, and obstruction of justice.

The investigation was jointly conducted by the Shin Bet and the Erez Major Crimes Unit, a joint unit of the Ministry of Defense’s Security and Investigations Unit and the Israel Police, along with the Military Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Military Intelligence Directorate, with the accompaniment of the Cyber Department at the State Attorney’s Office.

The defense establishment emphasizes that conducting such gambling, based on secret and classified information, poses a real security risk to the IDF’s operations and the security of the state.

It is clarified that according to the court’s decision, further details of the investigation and the identities of those involved remain confidential under a gag order.
