Israel National Cyber Directorate Strengthens Ties with Germany and Signs a Letter of Intent with the German Cyber Authority
Israel National Cyber Directorate strengthens ties with Germany, signing a Letter of Intent to boost cyber defense and AI research.
The israel national Cyber Directorate (INCD) is strengthening its cooperation with the German government in the field of cybersecurity. On Tuesday, December 9, a Letter of Intent was signed with Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior, as part of cyber week held at Tel Aviv University.
On behalf of Israel, the agreement was signed by the Director General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate, Yossi Karadi. On behalf of Germany, it was signed by Frederike Danz, Head of the Cyber Department at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior.
The cooperation aims to enhance cyber defense capabilities by leveraging the comparative advantages of both countries. It will focus on four main areas:
the development of the next generation of the Cyber Dome through the sharing of knowledge, accumulated experience, and best practices to strengthen cyber defense and thwart attacks;
the establishment of a Cyber Center of Excellence, which will promote research in the field of artificial intelligence;
joint exercises, simulations, innovation promotion, and exposure to startups in the fields of cybersecurity and AI;
cyber risk management and the advancement of appropriate regulation;
and the exchange of knowledge and personnel through expert exchange programs to promote policy, regulation, and international collaboration.
In her opening remarks at the conference, Frederike Danz stated:
“Cyber defense is a cornerstone of Germany’s national security strategy. To counter evolving threats, we must strengthen our technological and operational capabilities and build a resilient Cyber Dome. As part of this mission, international cooperation with trusted partners is critical, and Israel is one of our most important partners. Together, we can advance innovation, share knowledge, and implement advanced technologies to carry out effective cyber defense operations.”
The professional relationship and exchange of knowledge with German counterparts has been ongoing for many years. However, the current agreement marks a significant step forward in the partnership and will position this cooperation as one of the most meaningful in advancing cyber defense in both Israel and Germany.
