Jerusalem, 1 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s minister of Agriculture and Food Security Avi Dichter and his Georgian counterpart David Songulashvili signed a declaration of intent for agricultural cooperation between the countries during Songulashvili’s visit to Israel.

The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the areas of food security, agricultural trade, water infrastructure, research and development, as well as to establish a joint working team to implement the understandings.

The meeting took place following the visit of the Minister Dichter to Georgia last September, during which he met with Minister Songulashvili and held meetings with additional parties to strengthen cooperation with Israeli agricultural companies operating in Georgia.

The joint declaration states that Israel and Georgia will work to expand cooperation in diverse agricultural areas, including food security and agricultural trade between the countries, the development of irrigation means and resource-saving water systems, and the sharing of research and development capabilities. In addition, the declaration refers to cooperation in the field of veterinary services and animal welfare, with an emphasis on compliance with international standards that will enable safe agricultural trade between the countries.

The signed document also deals with the development of the next generation of agriculture through innovation and technology, and the parties agreed on the joint promotion of precision agriculture, the use of digital tools for farm management and “smart farm” systems, remote sensing systems, along with the sharing of technological knowledge. Also, in the business and academic fields, emphasis will be placed on connections between agricultural companies and startups from both countries and deepening collaborations between research institutions and academia through joint experiments and researcher exchanges.
