Jerusalem, 9 november, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The government of Israel on Sunday approved what it called a “precedent-setting decision” which includes a series of “broad” social and economic measures to honor permanent service members and conscripts in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and includes a total allocation of 3.25 billion Shekels ($995 million) for the years 2025 to 2029.
It includes new grants and incentives for permanent service members, an economic and emotional assistance fund for permanent service members and their families, and a personal digital wallet worth thousands of shekels to be used for fee payments, welfare, and recreation.
In addition, the Israel Land Authority will promote designated housing solutions and benefits for purchasing an apartment for permanent service members and the combat formation, with the aim of strengthening the economic security of those serving and encouraging continued long and meaningful service.
The decision also states that soldiers who served in the Rebirth War and lost their eligibility for the “Educational Dimensions” program will receive a one-time grant to finance higher education.
The government will declare a national day to honor all IDF soldiers, will grant academic accommodations to conscripts and regular servicemen who were forced to discontinue their studies due to their service, and will give priority to receiving services in government offices to combat soldiers during times of emergency.
In addition, controlled transfer of information to local authorities will be enabled for the purpose of granting assistance and benefits, and state recognition of military service will be established in civil service tenders.
